Edgar: Browse The Strips

Lynn's Comments: We had a neighbour in Lynn Lake who had three boys. Their dog was used to all kinds of crazy treatment. One of the things the youngest did was straddle the dog like a motorcycle and make engine sounds while twisting his ears as if he was turning the throttle. Amazingly, the dog was perfectly fine with this!

Lynn's Comments: I once invited a little friend for dinner—without first asking my mom. Mom was a generous person so I couldn’t understand why she was angry with me. I had no idea that we couldn’t afford to share the 4 pork chops she’d planned to cook, so she made was a “stew” out of them. I never did that again.

Lynn's Comments: I once went with a friend to visit Harry Morgan and his wife. Harry played the part of the Colonel on “M.A.S.H.” On a tour of their house, Harry’s wife showed me the secret to their long and happy marriage: they had separate bathrooms. At the time, I thought it was a bit excessive to have two bathrooms…but now that I live in a home with two upstairs conveniences, I can safely say that this is one of the reasons my partner and I get along so well—binary biffs.

Lynn's Comments: I gotta say it again…I absolutely loved drawing the dogs. Their facial expressions and body language could be exaggerated far beyond the human forms and the results were always hilarious. After I introduced dogs into the strip, the drawing became more and more enjoyable.

Lynn's Comments: Our dog, Willy, stayed at a great kennel. The owners often kept the easy-going animals in their house with them, so Willy’s stay was a lot of fun. They had kennels, of course, in their “dogominium,” and their feline guests stayed in the “kitty-condo.” It was quite the comfy place.

Lynn's Comments: I once watched my aunt’s German Shepherd swallow an entire can of dog food in one gulp. To slow him down, I gave him his next meal in tiny chunks. This he also managed to knock back in one gulp. I wondered why the rush…until I took a whiff of the stuff. I wouldn’t have wanted to taste it either!

Lynn's Comments: Readers criticized April’s “kidspeak” and told me to make her use proper English. I thought it would detract from a child’s charming way of learning the language. As long as my editors were OK with the content of the strip, I left it alone. One can suffer from too much advice!

Lynn's Comments: After a sobering story like the previous one, it was important to insert some funny stuff. A comic strip has to be funny most of the time or it becomes something of a soap opera. I wanted it to be light and enjoyable—with the occasional, serious truth.
