Lynn's Comments: Action was the hardest to draw. I wanted to put the “camera” in different positions, different angles, so that the motion was exaggerated. Believe it or not, I used photographs of football players in action to get these poses. It was worth the effort.

Lynn's Comments: The line I wanted to “ring out” here wasn’t the punch line at the end, it was in panel two: Am I in love or in need? I wrestled with that question when I was a single mom and dating. I wanted desperately to have a partner; someone in my life. It would have been so easy to settle for the wrong person because I was so lonely.

Lynn's Comments: Someone recently told me that the way to easily clip your dog’s toenails is to put peanut butter on your forehead, and while he’s licking it off, you can cut his nails. Has anyone out there tried this??

Lynn's Comments: “DEWITT YOURSELF”…I couldn’t resist the idea that a guy called Doogie Dewitt had opened a car wash. Wouldn’t that have been a great name? Sadly…there’s no “DEWITT YOURSELF” car wash. The gag about the dog locking the car doors really happened.

Lynn's Comments: Before I became a syndicated cartoonist, my husband and I would take time in the summer to work on his sister’s farm. We continued to do so whenever we could and it was fun to be able to feature Manitoba farm life in the strip.

Lynn's Comments: Here you can see the entire back of the Patterson house. The architecture worked on the outside, but making sense of the inside drawings was a bit of a challenge. I hoped nobody would look too closely at where the doors went and how the rec room was structured!
