Lynn's Comments: I have done this several times. What surprised me most is that none of the people who accepted the meal ever ordered more than they could eat. They asked for enough to fill their need at the time and were always gracious and dignified.

Lynn's Comments: I was caught by editors in panel 2. “Me an’ some friends” is grammatically incorrect, but it’s the way some kids speak. I was off the hook! Today, I hear this abuse of the English language all the time and I wonder how many people know the correct way to form this sentence!

Lynn's Comments: My dad was a jeweller. For my 15th birthday, he gave me a black diamond ring and said these exact words. So much of what went on in the comic strip was taken from my life past and present. I denied that Elly Patterson was me…but there certainly were similarities!

Lynn's Comments: My mother was a real stoic. She went through some incredible surgeries and long recoveries, but I never heard her complain. She considered it all an adventure. She was an amazing woman.
