Elly: Browse The Strips

Lynn's Comments: This was true. Both my brother and I were living in Ontario, and, in order to see our parents through this difficult time, we had to take turns flying out to Vancouver. This was difficult for everyone. We had to take time off work or take work with us. Our parents didn’t want to be a “burden.”

Lynn's Comments: In reality, my mom had bowel cancer. Her surgery was extensive, and it left her with a body that didn’t work the way it used to. This, too, became an adventure as she learned how to live with a colostomy and a new diet.

Lynn's Comments: We had a friend who always seemed to have a funny story about himself—and he didn’t mind sharing. Larry said he’d been at a barbecue, and after a few too many drinks, sat down to enjoy a big steak. He wondered why the steak was so tough. As it turned out, he had cut through the steak and the paper plate and his pants and had begun to cut into his thigh. It was a really funny story, and I had to use it. Several more true “Larry stories” were included in FBorFW. It was a great exchange and I think he has a number of original strips on his wall!
