Love Just Screws Everything Up: Browse The Strips

Lynn's Comments: Around this time, readers were after me to change Elly’s hair. The argument was that she was looking like an aging hippy and needed an upgrade. As I did these strips, I really was trying to decide what to do here. Changing Elly’s hair would change the character. Could I still draw Elly to look like Elly if her hair was different?

Lynn's Comments: A friend, who was an elementary school teacher, told me that as long as a student’s coat was in the cloakroom, the kids knew he or she was coming back. I thought it was a sweet idea and I used it in the strip.

Lynn's Comments: I gotta say it again…I absolutely loved drawing the dogs. Their facial expressions and body language could be exaggerated far beyond the human forms and the results were always hilarious. After I introduced dogs into the strip, the drawing became more and more enjoyable.

Lynn's Comments: I have served on a number of committees, and just the word “committee” now gives me hives. Seems to me that a lot of committee members show up for the coffee and donuts and that’s about it. If anything gets done, it’s a surprise.

Lynn's Comments: A psychiatrist friend once told me that when someone, male or female, makes a drastic personal change, it’s often reflected in his or her hairstyle. A drastic cut or colour might mean that a serious decision has been made. I wonder if that’s true!

Lynn's Comments: My brother did this. Watching our mom making root beer in the family washing machine (she washed it out first), he became fascinated by the way she filled the bottles. Rather than use the spigot at the bottom of the washer, she used a siphon. She also used one to empty our kiddy pool in the back yard. I remember our dad mopping the bathroom floor after one of Alan’s siphon experiments and watching to see if the linoleum tiles were lifting. Funny memories…from a kid’s point of view.

Lynn's Comments: I put some serious personal observations into the strip…and this one resulted in some very personal responses. People told me about problems they couldn’t resolve: about money owed, borrowed or invested with family or friends. It’s a subject that confounds us all.
