Lynn's Comments: Whenever a serious story was on the rise, I always had to remember there were other things going on in the Pattersons' lives. There were other characters to include. In real life, there so many facets to every day…we don't focus on just one topic. Here, Farley comes in to break up the pregnancy storyline.

Lynn's Comments: We had a small piece of property near our house in North Bay. Friends who were involved with a tree planting program gave us two dozen evergreen seedlings to plant—which we did, hoping to see at least some of them survive. All of the seedlings grew, and today, there is a forest on that land. Hard to believe I have lived long enough to see a forest grow!

Lynn's Comments: After I drew up this strip, I actually found a boot drying rack just like the one I drew here. It was home made. My guess is that some enterprising company is making them out of plastic now!

Lynn's Comments: When I was about 15, my dad's mother came to live with us for a few weeks. Weeks turned into months. It was my room she was given and I had to sleep in the unfinished basement. No matter how nicely my folks fixed it up, I was still banished from my own bed—looking at studs and drywall, watching for spiders and listening for things that go bump in the night. During the day, I'd go into my room for clothes and school supplies, and grandma's teeth would grin at me from a jar on my bedside table. I loved my grandmother but I was glad when she left so I could go back to the security and familiarity of my own space. My room smelled like "Grandma" for ages!

Lynn's Comments: Aunt Margaret's assortment of regular customers would arrive every day. It was a social hub. These regulars would spend their time playing pool or sitting in the coffee shop. It was my job to make and serve them breakfast or burgers and fries. If they ever took a good look at the griddle we used, they might not have swallowed their lunch.

Lynn's Comments: Ahhhh...I see here that I drew the wrong door in the background. The door you see at the end of the hallway, belonged at the back of the house. The front door had a different window. Some errors I haven't noticed until now!
