Lynn's Comments: I actually tried making vegetarian meals for a while. I think I lasted a week. The problem wasn't the vegetable diet, but finding enough easy recipes that would please everyone. In the end, we caved and ran out for a greasy chicken dinner—which, at the time, tasted like ambrosia!

Lynn's Comments: I've always hated to exercise. I can garden all day or walk for miles or clean up a kitchen, but don't ask me to go to a gym! I've joined running groups just to have company in my misery. I've joined gyms hoping the expense would be a catalyst, but the relief of not going is wonderful. Just the smell of a gym makes me want to scream, "Get me outta here!" I can trace all this back to my high school gym teachers. There was trauma there for sure!

Lynn's Comments: For years, when we lived in the far north, I worked with my sister-in-law as her veterinary assistant, and neutering pets was something we did often. It’s much faster and easier to neuter a male than a female, and when we were at work, the guys gave us a wide berth.

Lynn's Comments: The line I wanted to “ring out” here wasn’t the punch line at the end, it was in panel two: Am I in love or in need? I wrestled with that question when I was a single mom and dating. I wanted desperately to have a partner; someone in my life. It would have been so easy to settle for the wrong person because I was so lonely.

Lynn's Comments: Being able to say what I said in the last panel was a break through. Up until this time, cartoonists were prohibited from talking about body functions or to even show a husband and wife in bed together. As long as we were careful in the way we worded our lines, the editors gave us all quite a free range.

Lynn's Comments: I’m looking at this again as someone they now call “elderly.” (Aaaaughhhh!) I was in my 40s when I did this strip, and from my present vantage point, I can’t imagine what these ladies are grousing about.
