sunday: Browse The Strips

Lynn's Comments: I have done this several times. What surprised me most is that none of the people who accepted the meal ever ordered more than they could eat. They asked for enough to fill their need at the time and were always gracious and dignified.

Lynn's Comments: I was sure when I did this cartoon that, in this respect, things hadn’t changed much since I was a teenager. The girls would get dressed up to go somewhere and wind up hanging around as the guys fixed or looked at or thought about buying a car. I received letters from women who’d had the same experience, but more from women who loved to fix and check out cars as much as the guys did!

Lynn's Comments: We had a friend who always seemed to have a funny story about himself—and he didn’t mind sharing. Larry said he’d been at a barbecue, and after a few too many drinks, sat down to enjoy a big steak. He wondered why the steak was so tough. As it turned out, he had cut through the steak and the paper plate and his pants and had begun to cut into his thigh. It was a really funny story, and I had to use it. Several more true “Larry stories” were included in FBorFW. It was a great exchange and I think he has a number of original strips on his wall!

Lynn's Comments: I confess. I bought a giant bra at one of these sales—just because it was there. It’s enormous. I have no idea what the size is, but I had never seen anything like it before. I still have it and I’m not sure what to do with it. Secondhand shops often don’t accept underclothes even if they’re new. Someday, when my family has to go through all my stuff, they’ll discover this enormous bra and wonder why on earth it’s there!
