Lynn's Comments: My mom made cucumber sandwiches. I loved them. It wasn't until I got to school that I found out it was a rather British "dish." If I brought a cucumber sandwich at school...nobody ever asked me to trade.

Lynn's Comments: I found it hard to draw really attractive characters—people with symmetrical features and athletic shapes. Somehow, they always looked as though they had stepped out of the “Archie” comics. This was the last thing I wanted…because I often used the Archie characters as research when I had to draw full figures.

Lynn's Comments: I had a Sunday school teacher who had so many hairs on her chin that I couldn’t concentrate on anything else. I kept thinking, “Why doesn’t she shave them off?” I thought she looked like a character in one of Len Norris’ cartoons! I was already paying serious attention to comic art when I was in elementary school.

Lynn's Comments: In kindergarten, I turned a hide and seek game into a bit of chaos by taking off all my clothes in the closet where I was hiding. The teacher was not amused and expelled me from her class. I remember my mom accepting the news with resignation. I guess this had been “the last straw.”

Lynn's Comments: Remembering all of the crazy personal interactions, the games, and the heartbreaks of high school, took me back to some intensely emotional times. It was interesting to know that the experiences I’d had were still being talked about when I wrote these strips!

Lynn's Comments: One of the funniest projects my daughter was asked to participate in was a vegetable art show. What you see in this drawing cannot compare with the wonderful “sculptures” her grade 3 class made. As a cartoonist, I had the best time just wandering around the exhibits. I couldn’t laugh out loud, but my smile must have been audible!
