Farley: Browse The Strips

Sunday December 22, 2019

Lynn's Comments: This actually happened. We were about to go to a house party when we realized we'd left the kids with a sitter too many times. We had just started the car when we decided to go back into the house and be a family. It turned out to be a great evening.

Lynn's Comments: I omitted the top of the first 3 panels here just to see if it would make a nice change to the look of the strip. I think it did. It was around this time that I started to white out borders and let parts of the illustration extend outside the line. I’ve never been one to keep things the same; another reason why the characters "grew up."

Lynn's Comments: Our dog, Willy, loved to chase squirrels. He lived for a good squirrel chase and of course he never caught one. Sometimes I think the squirrels were in on the game because they seemed to taunt him at the windows, and when we let him out, they would wait until he was close enough to get his hopes up and then disappear into a tree. It was good exercise for all and nobody got hurt.

Lynn's Comments: Remember the movie "The Fly"? I’m talking about the old original (1958). Remember how the buzzing sound happened whenever The Fly was coming? There was buzzing...but the monster never flew!

Lynn's Comments: Harrison’s Pond was a small "bog" in front of our friend Doug Harrison's house. Every spring, when we heard the frogs singing in that pond, we knew the frost was gone and summer was on its way.

Lynn's Comments: There were leeches in Harrison's pond. This we discovered after a frog hunting expedition. Leeches are strange creatures and super interesting to look at…unless they are stuck to your legs.
