Lynn's Comments: I once turned a tiny greenhouse into a studio; my friend Nancy had her animation studio in a closet. Both of us were happy and productive. You don’t need much when you’re young and inventive.
Lynn's Comments: When I was in high school, some of the girls were glued to bride books—talking about the rings they wanted and the weddings they’d plan. I always thought they were crazy. In the end, I was one of the first to tie the knot. In those days, I’d have been disowned if I moved in with my boyfriend.
Lynn's Comments: I did this to my brother. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment things that seemed like a good idea at the time. His girlfriend, on the other end of the line, was convinced that he had another girl with him. I did such a good job of cooing into the phone, he had a hard time convincing her that it was his sister playing a prank. I paid dearly later on…but it was worth it!
Lynn's Comments: Whenever I can, I thank teachers. It was the teachers in my life who saw potential in a troublemaker and challenged me to do something useful with my skills.
Lynn's Comments: If you don’t live in Ontario, Canada—or any other place where a block heater is a necessary winter appliance, you won’t know the nuisance and embarrassment of forgetting to unplug the thing when you drive away.
Lynn's Comments: Changing a character’s hair was always a big deal. I figured it wouldn’t make sense for teenagers to not go through some experimentation, so both Elizabeth and Michael had some different “looks” throughout the latter part of the strip. Elly and John, however, stayed pretty much the same.
