Lynn's Comments: I do love checking into a clean, attractive hotel room--knowing that I don't have to wash the porcelain receptacles or change the sheets. When I was a busy mom, this was a luxury I craved!

Lynn's Comments: I confess; when I went on business trips to cities where relatives were accessible, I would often "forget" to tell them I'd be there. I had so little time--most of which was taken up with meetings, interviews and book signings. I had little time to adjust before packing up and moving on. Sometimes folks were offended, but my philosophy was: If you can't have a really good visit, then don't visit at all! Later on, I made up for these fast take-offs and landings.

Lynn's Comments: I often left things in hotel closets and I usually got them back. The only thing I knew would disappear was my little magnifying make-up mirror, which I suction-cupped to the window for maximum light. These are readily available at most pharmacies--but housekeepers, it seems, really like to take them home!

Lynn's Comments: I went to the Lynn Lake airport to see Rod off on his arctic adventure. It was August; not too cold where we were living, but the summer ends in July up north, so the window of good weather was closing fast. He had to get to a small bay on the northwest coast of Yathkyed Lake as quickly as possible.

Lynn's Comments: This is a story that covered some painful territory. Like so many others, we fell prey to a fancy sales pitch and wound up with a timeshare we didn’t want. The salesman here was as close to the real guy as I could remember—and he did recognize himself.

Lynn's Comments: There is an art to the timeshare sales pitch and there are several layers to the “sell.” No matter how hard you try to argue against it, you can be coerced into believing you are making an investment.

Lynn's Comments: In exchange for a dry sandwich, we were being pushed into making a $30,000 “investment.” One of the many things they don’t tell you is that the pitch is for a one-week timeshare. They make it sound like two. You will also pay an exorbitant maintenance fee.

Lynn's Comments: I didn’t let on here that we actually did buy a timeshare and we used it for many years—until the maintenance fee was more than the price of a round trip flight plus a week at an all-inclusive in Cancun! In all the years we went to Cabo San Lucas, we rarely saw evidence that the unit had been maintained.
