Elly: Browse The Strips

Friday March 23, 2018

Lynn's Comments: I think this was an actual conversation between my brother Alan and I. He became a professional musician. He has just retired—he played the trumpet for over 50 years.

Lynn's Comments: Strolling across the parking lot at Canadian Tire today, my partner Paul and I were talking about our past and how much fun we'd had. We wondered about the new generation of kids, and it occurred to us that right now, is THEIR "good old days!"

Lynn's Comments: Anyone who owns a large, hairy dog will see themselves in this Sunday page. The first folks to come up with the idea of a pet grooming business, really knew what they were doing!

Lynn's Comments: I recently went to a nail spa. I rarely do this but it was a gift and I enjoyed being pampered. The young woman doing my nails had just had her lips injected with something that had made them red and swollen. I tactfully asked her about them and she said she was getting lip injections and Botox as well—to keep herself looking young. She couldn't have been more than 20 years old! I wonder what she will look like when she is my age.

Lynn's Comments: The curly hair story brought thanks from folks who were telling me to change Elly’s hair, complaints from folks who thought it was ugly, and very personal letters from women and men who were waiting for a hair disaster to grow out. Hair, it seems, is very serious stuff.

Lynn's Comments: I bought a pair of good scissors one day because I couldn't find my sewing shears anywhere. I told Kate that these were not to be removed from my sewing box. Several days later, they were gone. The two of us did a massive clean up of the house and we found 9 pairs of scissors. Like socks, scissors sometimes disappear from the face of the earth…never to be found again.

Lynn's Comments: The first boy-girl party I ever went to was at my friend Carolyn’s house. We were all about 13. It was an easy mix until the lights went down and we tried slow dancing. We had been taught how to waltz in gym class, but in a real basement with real couples, it was awkward.

Lynn's Comments: This was as close as I ever got to having nudity in the strip. My editors had to think about this one before they permitted it to run. I don't think any of the papers refused to print it, but I did get a couple of warning notes from papers in the southern US.

Sunday April 29, 2018

Lynn's Comments: I rarely used processed cheese in the kids’ lunches, but when I did, I thought this would be a funny prank to pull.

Tuesday May 8, 2018

Lynn's Comments: This is the beginning of a true story: something that happened to our little black Spaniel, Willy.

Thursday May 10, 2018

Lynn's Comments: I waited in the clinic like a worried parent. (Here the story was about the imaginary Farley.) Our little spaniel was limping and fretful, but amazingly happy and easy to manage.
