Lynn's Comments: Without planning for the future of these characters, I was setting April up to be a veterinarian; something she became after the strip ended. Yes...they all lived happily ever after—even if it's just in my imagination.

Lynn's Comments: In order to do these strips with some confidence, I went to a breeder and asked if I could see some brand new puppies. They were kind enough to take me to see a new mom with her babies. I was shocked to see how tiny they were. How quickly we forget!

Lynn's Comments: This illustration was hard to draw. I was very emotional when I did it. I could see the outcome immediately, but readers had to wait for 24 hours to find out what happened next.

Lynn's Comments: I had written and drawn this episode eight weeks before it appeared in the paper. Even so, it was a bit of a rollercoaster for me to see it unfold in the paper day by day.

Lynn's Comments: Tragically, the day this strip was originally published was also the date of the Oklahoma bombing. There was no way to halt or change this story and it ran at a time when North America was in shock and people's hearts were breaking.

Lynn's Comments: My dad was a watchmaker. One of our favourite stories was "The Noisy Clock Shop" by Jean Horton Berg. I recently found it again in a second hand shop— an original "Wonder Book!" Mr. Winky was the main character. I got the title of the book wrong here, but I sure remembered the story!
