Lynn's Comments: Before I became a syndicated cartoonist, my husband and I would take time in the summer to work on his sister’s farm. We continued to do so whenever we could and it was fun to be able to feature Manitoba farm life in the strip.
Lynn's Comments: As a city kid, I had never experienced life on a farm. I never knew how much work there was to do or how much you had to know. It was a real education!
Lynn's Comments: A friend of ours was walking down the street with a painful, bow-legged gait. He passed one of his students who said, “Mr. Benson, I know what you were doing!” He blushed. She continued, “You were riding a horse!” He was relieved…he had just had a vasectomy.
Lynn's Comments: It took a while, but once I learned to appreciate the huge Manitoba sky, I fell in love with it. On a cloudy day, you could see the rain fall from miles away. On a clear night, the stars lit up the sky. Sunsets were magnificent. Each and every province in Canada has its’ own wonderful, unique beauty.
Lynn's Comments: All the names here refer to friends and family who lived near the farm. It was fun to know that they’d be talking about the comic strip over morning coffee at the local diner.
