Lynn's Comments: My daughter's husband is the kind of man who changes babies, walks them when they can't sleep, and takes care of them when they're sick. He feeds them, plays with them, reads to them, and does their laundry. This man is a rare breed. He should be cloned--And, he LOVES to fish!

Lynn's Comments: When I read this stuff, I can hear myself lecturing my kids. I can also hear my folks lecturing me. My grandkids aren't old enough for this kind of lecture, but it will come. Oh yes, it will come. We parents all sound exactly the same!

Lynn's Comments: I'm looking back at these drawings from a grandmother's point of view now...and the first thing that came to mind was, "Why is Elly criticizing the kids when they have actually mowed and raked a lawn?!—For heaven's sake, girl, leave the complaints for bigger misdemeanors!"

Lynn's Comments: Once again, this really happened. Having a comic strip to fill every week made some calamities a GOOD thing! Real life gave me a constant source of maddening incidents that I could turn into funny.
An avid birder, she would then retrace her steps and watch for nests, which had been made with her threads. Determined to see me do the same, she gave me a basket of thrums to distribute. We were well into nesting season, and when I still hadn't thrown the thrums, she began to grumble. Annoyed and lazy, I tossed the threads onto our lawn and forgot about them until the lawn needed mowing. I started the mower and was happily going along when suddenly the thing seized with a loud, metallic THWANGGGGG. Smoke came out from under the cowling with a burning rubber smell. I unplugged the mower and turned it over. Strangling the blade was a broad band of colourful, smouldering thrums.
