Lynn's Comments: For years these kinds of cartoons (about wolf whistles and smart remarks directed at girls) were not considered in bad taste. In fact, this behavior was expected, and as a girl being whistled at by boys in a passing car (depending on the way it was done), I thought was funny and fun. Times have changed…and for the better.

Lynn's Comments: There never was a "Martha" in my son's life even though readers were sure there was. I gave this character the name "Martha" for a friend whose life was in shambles at the time. It was a way of giving her a gift and she enjoyed it very much.

Lynn's Comments: Somebody once said that it wasn’t possible for men and women to be good friends without any "love complications" – just friends. Well, I "deg to biffer." I had some wonderful male friends in grade school, art school, workmates and beyond. The thing is to make sure your eventual life partner is also a very good friend!

Lynn's Comments: If you're a fan of Jim Unger's "Herman," look at John's profile in panel 8. Doesn’t it look like it was drawn by Jim Unger? I loved the way he drew a non-expression like this. Guess the admiration rubbed off!

Lynn's Comments: Around this time, I began to work with another graphic artist. Laura could easily duplicate my style, so with more time to do background details, the art soon became much more complicated. I would draw the strip in pencil, ink the characters, and give her the rest to do. Up until I retired from the strip, Laura became another right hand!
