Lynn's Comments: I once gave each of the girls who worked for me the gift of a professional glamour portrait. I told them that someday they’d look at these photographs and be glad they had them. It’s 20 years since I did this. I hope they look at those portraits from time to time and see how lovely there were.

Lynn's Comments: Gordon and Tracey’s wedding was much like my first wedding—my reception was in my parents’ dining room; my mom made all the sandwiches and the cake.

Lynn's Comments: For years, when we lived in the far north, I worked with my sister-in-law as her veterinary assistant, and neutering pets was something we did often. It’s much faster and easier to neuter a male than a female, and when we were at work, the guys gave us a wide berth.

Lynn's Comments: One thing that always surprised me was how resilient and up beat our patients were after surgery. Dogs recover from some of the most serious operations with cheerful and friendly behavior—masking any pain they might be in. They are far more active than you’d expect them to be. Perhaps it’s a way to survive in the wild.

Lynn's Comments: We had a neighbour in Lynn Lake who had three boys. Their dog was used to all kinds of crazy treatment. One of the things the youngest did was straddle the dog like a motorcycle and make engine sounds while twisting his ears as if he was turning the throttle. Amazingly, the dog was perfectly fine with this!

Lynn's Comments: I received some wonderful letters when this strip ran. A lot of people dream about horses!

Lynn's Comments: I once invited a little friend for dinner—without first asking my mom. Mom was a generous person so I couldn’t understand why she was angry with me. I had no idea that we couldn’t afford to share the 4 pork chops she’d planned to cook, so she made was a “stew” out of them. I never did that again.

Lynn's Comments: I usually do my research before I go to work, but I didn’t this time. After I drew up this Sunday page, I went and looked at some “steamy” magazines. None of the women in the sensuous photos were smiling. It made me wonder how much joy was in this business—for them

Lynn's Comments: When I was 16, I got a part-time job at a big Vancouver department store. It was Christmas and I was in the jewellery department. What surprised me was the number of men who came in at the last minute on December 24th looking for something for their wives!

Lynn's Comments: Now and then we put notes on the patients’ charts to let us know something personal about them for the next visit. TG might mean, “tends to gag.” PTIN could mean: “periodontal treatment for inflammation necessary,” but in reality, it meant, “pain in the neck!”
