Lynn's Comments: I had the opportunity to put in a name that wouldn’t be linked to a featured character in the strip. Cecily Beard is a dear friend and at the time we had lost touch. By putting her name in the strip, I was able to connect with her after almost 30 years. We met at the airport, arms around each other, crying and laughing and saying "you haven’t changed at all!"

Lynn's Comments: When menopause hit, I couldn't believe how uncomfortable I was. The heat I produced was amazing. I would get up in the middle of the night and stand on our deck—happy to have a -30 degree temperature to cool off in. At times, I thought that heat-seeking satellites would be able to pinpoint our house when I was out there suffering!

Lynn's Comments: On one hand, this story was running at the worst time possible. On the other hand, teachers in Edmonton were using it to teach young children about the dangers of playing in the local creeks—so dangerous in springtime.

Lynn's Comments: Some readers made fun of this idea—that Farley lived on in a spiritual form...but others were comforted by this Sunday page. The death of the Patterson family dog was an emotional story and I wanted it to end on a positive note.

Lynn's Comments: I’m looking at this again as someone they now call “elderly.” (Aaaaughhhh!) I was in my 40s when I did this strip, and from my present vantage point, I can’t imagine what these ladies are grousing about.
