Lynn to attend ToonFest
| News Bites Home

Next weekend, September 15-16, Lynn will be attending Toonfest 2006, which is held in Marceline, Missouri - home town of Walt Disney.

Lynn will be the first female cartoonist to present at Toonfest since it began eight years ago. Past guests have been Tom Wilson Jr (who is attending again this year), Mort Walker, Greg Evans, the McCoy brothers, Mike Peters, Bill Amend, Brad Anderson and Jim Borgman.

All Toonfest symposiums are held at the Uptown Theatre on Saturday, September 16. Two Disney Premiers have been held at this theatre - in 1956 Walt and Roy Disney both attended the Midwest Premiere of The Great Locomotive Chase and in 1998 the Disney Company held the premiere of The Spirit of Mickey at the Uptown. This theatre was built in the 1930's and has never been closed. That's no small accomplishment in a town of 2,356 people!

Friday is Toonfest Student day. Student day is made possible by donations from local businesses. Saturday begins with the Toonfest fun run and the parade at 10:00 am on the Original Main Street USA. All day there are games, food and entertainment in E.P. Ripley Park.

There will be a Toonfest International Cartoon Exhibit at the Masonic Temple and tours of the Walt Disney Home Town Museum. At 6:00 everyone will gather at the Disney Farm under Walt’s Dreaming Tree for the Tree Planting Ceremony.
