I don't think Elly or Anne was looking down on janitors. Elly just was remarking she hated vacuuming and Anne was commiserating with her. And speaking as someone who has run her own cleaning service, if you don't like vacuuming, it's not the career for you!

I have read the strip off an on for a number of years and have typically enjoyed it. However, I must say that I found something in today's strip to be fairly insulting. The main character is complaining about all the housework and says, "In my next life, I'm coming back as a man." Doesn't her husband work his tail off as a dentist to allow his wife to stay home and take care of their children? She doesn't even have to work outside the home, for heaven's sake. Can you imagine how many women would love to be in her situation? To me this is a disturbing trend in all comics where the men get criticized much the time, even as they work hard in their full-time jobs. I've worked for the past 16 years to allow my wife to stay home and homeschool our son. She hasn't complained once about doing the housework, as she considers it a privilige to be able to stay home and be with our son each day.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I feel today's strip was a trifle insulting to some (not all) men, and how much we do for our loved ones. I'm sure it's not likely that this message will eventually get to the cartoonist, but I believe it would provide a small favor to her if it does. Thank you very much.

For the record, not every man with facial hair has such poor hygiene that his mustache tastes salty. Or like anything, really.
