Monday

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Happy New Year to one and all!

Happy New Year! I've been a fan for years but today is the first time I felt like I was in a time-warp...the year above the Saturday, 2 January strip reads 1010!

Still chuckling about that :)

I loved the strip with Uncle Phil and the kids. It's a shame some people don't realize that when you depict the past you do it as it was, not the way things are now. Phil smoked a pipe; that was the way it was. I say quit picking and enjoy this lovely family, and Lynn's marvelous reciting of days past.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for people to smoke in your comics, even around children - it hasn't been until the last decade that non-smokers rose up and beat down the addicted, making sure they'd never be welcome anywhere anymore. Pipes and cigars and celebratory/social/after dinner cigarettes were NORMAL in my childhood. People smoked in the grocery store, in my high school, in the mall -- everywhere! Taking it out of the comic would be anachronistic and just plain silly. Thanks for being realistic - I've loved this comic since I was a little kid, myself. :)

On 30 Dec -- excellent stuff. Hoping you have a wide audience among teachable males. Glad you don't flinch from the word "vulnerable." It's a real condition that many of us don't acknowledge, or try to understand, or learn to build defenses against. BTW I have two daughters and two granddaughters. See how I know these things? Happy New Year and best regards!

We absolutely love your strip and especially the special shows, we have some on VHS, but really want to upgrade to DVD's, the tapes are wearing out. Where can we get them? Can we get them on DVD?

Sherry, Sudbury, ON, Canada

Indeed you can, Sherry. The shows are available on DVD through the FBorFW website at http://store.fborfw.com/catalog/

Many years have gone by since I got my 1st FBOFW book. Each year, my mom would get me the latest book, and we'd read it together. I looked forward to finding that under the Christmas tree more than anything. I treasure those memories to this day.

This tradition continued when I met my husband. He took over, and without fail, there was always a FBOFW book under our tree.

Now that the series is over, I wasn't expecting to find one this year. Little did I know, he has started to replace my old, very warn out copies, with new ones personalized and signed by you Lynn. Once again, it was the "bestest present" I could have gotten. It means a lot to me that you take time out to do that for your fans.

Oh Elly your the best!!!! Love your column, Love your stories, Love your wit, Love your characters. I feel like your characters are part of my family too. You are truly The Goddess of The Comic Strips. Thanks for everything you do.

I am catching up on the comics and read the 22 Dec. strip 9from the past). What a memory it brings back about my own children and now the grandkids. This has always been one of my favourite strips and, just like Peanuts, even doing the "blast from the past" does NOT diminish the pleasure and acyually enhances it. God bless you for the truth and humor in life that few really see.

So, did Elly like the Pearl necklace????? A couple of years ago, you had a strip where one of Elly's girlfriends told John that what women really want is a tool set. He bought one for Elly. Yet, you never showed her reaction. They were both great set-ups for a new strip. I was so disapointed not to see Elly's reaction...

I am loving these holiday strips! We have all been in the position that Phil and Connie are in where there is misunderstandings on both ends of what kind of "relationship" they really have/are in. The miscommunications and assumptions in life can really lead to some interesting and sometimes very comical situations. I like that I can read it happening here and have a chance to laugh at it even though many times they are mirroring the situations I have been in before and have had to deal with. I look forward to seeing a more in depth outcome! Will they have an adult heart to heart about the nature of their relationship? Will one just stop talking to the other for a while and leave the other just hanging and not knowing what is going on(as is what usually happens to me when I find myself liking someone but they don't feel the same)? Will Connie have a freak out if Phil tells her they are "just friends?" Will Phil introduce her as just a friend at a party or will Connie introduce him as a boyfriend at a party and will drama insue? HAHAHA! I love watching these aspects of life unfold on the comic pages!

There is no daily, tear-off calendar advertised! I'm heart-broken!! BUT - I have "favorite"-marked the "Strip," so I'll get my daily fix that way!

LOVE the strip! Have for years! I wish it to keep coming!

Thanks for all the humor you've added to my life!

I was a bit apprehensive about the new format with the old strip. I find that I enjoy the Pattersons just as much if not more the second time around. FBORFW begins my day, everyday.

Thank you for finding a way to continue with the Patterson family.
