OH NO!!!! April is going to fall in the creek because Lizzie sipped some beer!!!! OH DEAR!! WHAT NEXT!!!
Sorry I had to get the sarcasm out. I know that children drinking isn't really funny, but name one kid that didn't sneak an unknowing sip as a child. There's a photo around somewhere of me age 3 with a beer bottle to my mouth. Don't know where the thing came from because my parents didn't like beer. I also have a memory of swigging grandpa's Johnny Walker Red (straight up no ice. ice is for sissies) thinking that it was water. I remember crying a lot. I'm nowhere near an alcoholic because of this. In fact I have a total of 3 glasses of wine, a few coolers, and 10 glasses of rye and coke per year. I've also let my son have a sip of wine. At age 9 he can't stand it and told his friends that it's "absolutely disgusting"
Lighten up people.

This is kind of fun, going back in time, but I miss April and the grandkids! Will we see them soon? P.S. to all the child abuse critiquers. Children get into things even with the most attentive parents! I love this strip because it shows the mistakes along with the successes all parents have!

Well now you've gone and done it Laura from Orilla, ON, Canada. I'm surprised no one noticed early(and amused that Lizzie went very quickly from sampling her dad's beer to chugging). I'm also surprised that neither John nor Elly noticed, and consequentially flipped out. But, that was the point I suppose. They were too wrapped up in their problems. Well said Angie of Montreal,QC, Canada. True it was wrong but remember it is just a comic strip. Also wasn't the reality of it something that many of you enjoy anyway? Remember Elly and John are new at this.

I can't get over the timing of this comic strip as I have recently came to the same conclusion concerning my own education or lack thereof. Looks like I may be following in Elly's footsteps. I admire her determination.
