Elly as “Supermom”? ….Not likely! S-Mom, an icon of the Feminist movement, managed to be President of the PTA, coach local soccer and sponge hockey teams, and prepare organic Tahini while working up a paper for her night class in Business Admin.
Her predecessor the "unliberated" but equally mythical “Wonder Wife”, could buy a month’s groceries with a shoebox full of coupons and some pocket change, make a cocktail frock out of a couple of her husband’s work shirts, or bake a dozen cherry pies and fold Laundry while having Morning Coffee with her two best friends.
(It's too bad thst S-Mom and W-Wife never faced off against each other: I wonder who would have “won”?)

I remember the original For Better or For Worse strip that last Wednesday's strip (October 7) was based on.
In the original strip, Elly said that she was going to register for Creative Writing in the upcoming semester. There was no mention of her having to wait until next semester to take the Creative Writing class because it wasn't offered in the semester that was just starting. John half-jokingly criticized her for wanting to take Creative Writing. He said, "Lots of people take Creative Writing. Why not take something practical? Belly dancing and gourmet cooking, for example!" Elly just made a face at him, instead of trying to shove him out of the room like she did in Wednesday's redraw of the strip. The original strip made John look sillier than he did in Wednesday's redraw. The original also made Elly look less cranky than she did in the redraw.
Was it really so bad that she had to wait until spring to take Creative Writing? When I got my tenth-grade schedule in the mail, I was disappointed to see that I was scheduled for Art History class in the fall and Creative Writing in the spring. I would have liked to take Creative Writing in the fall instead of the spring, but I didn't whine to my family about it. People do survive having to wait until the spring to take Creative Writing. I think the original strip was funnier than the redraw.

I'd just like to say. I find your old/new strips very interesting. While I was said to see the original end I thought you did it very well and it really touched my heart. I started reading FBorFW with April's book All About April as a kid and now as a college student I enjoy looking back at the beginning that I never knew about. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
