To Gina L, thank you for you comment. I did not get that job. It was given to an internal candidate that suddenly was going to be outplaced. I was aware that questions to marital status are illegal. To file a claim it would have to be shown that the intent was to discriminate and the guy may have just been an arrogant blo-hard. How do I know for sure? I never will and that is the part that gets to me. However, after some soul searching I decided it was better not to burn bridges at this time.

Ryan,I get your reference to Rosanne's old show. But for you to be commenting on a show that has been off the air for a decade or so she must have gotten her point across whatever that might be for you, me or someone else. Good job Roseanne!

I agree with Ryan in Seattle. I'm glad that some of these negative people don't get to write comments on everything I do wrong in my life. Sheesh. Right or wrong, it is a reflection of the way things are in life! John and Elly have faults, but who doesn't? The idea is to give us a picture of the average family, warts and all! And by the way, IT IS JUST A COMIC STRIP!!! Keep up the good work, Lynn.

I've noticed that a lot of people say that there's too much criticism of the strip; frankly, I don't see it. Nineteen times out of twenty, a letter will thank Lynn for a strip because a Patterson or Pattersons did something the writer and his or her family did. The rest is wishing that we'd see the modern-day family and assorted other stuff.

To all those who complain about John's "sexist" comments: I don't want to put too fine a point on it, but when it comes to women and their absenteeism at work, it's true. Far too often, the women in my office seem to be absent far more then the men are.....a lot of the time, thier weeks go something like this: "Monday, Sickday, Wednesday, Personalday, Halfday". Then they complain that they don't get promoted or get good pay raises. What chuztpah!!

I love this look into the generation of my parents. Great work!
