I am…amazed at today’s (Sept.19) comic. The way John rants is disgusting. What’s worse is Elly just sitting there & taking it. I know it’s supposed to make him look like a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal, & that part works. But what’s much worse, in my opinion, is Elly’s reaction. She just sits there. What will we segue into next, the strip where John belittles Elly in front of his staff & patients, only to explain “it’s ok, she’s my wife?” I left my ex-husband for attitudes like this. If Elly doesn’t say anything, if she chooses to go on living with a jerk like this, well, she has no one to blame for living in a hell of her own making.

What's with the constant stream of misogyny in the strip lately? Are we supposed to be laughing at the sheer amount of disgusting sexism coming from John Patterson (like "Oh my god, haha, what an insane raging asshole!"), or is the sexism itself supposed to be funny (as in "Haha, yeah women suck!")? Either way, it got old fast. It's not funny; it's downright offensive.

At Liz's wedding, John asks Elly if she'd marry him if she had it to do over and she enthusiastically assents. Based on John's appallingly sexist attitudes in the recent strips, I find that hard to credit. In fact, it's hard to believe they remain married another week!

Sunday was my birthday and I was feeling a little down. I went online to read my favorite comic strip and you made my day ... or should I say you and Farley in his bra & panties!! Thank you Lynn and may God bless

Sunday September 20th was ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!! I about died laughing as it brought up childhood memories of me dressing up a young cat in baby clothes. You so out did yourself on this one!!!! Way to go Lynn!!!!! I have been a die hard reader for more years than I can count and I was so afraid of the new reruns. I am so glad I stuck with you because you have only gotten better. Keep up the good work!!! Deanna (Yes that is my real name and even funnier my husband is Mike.)

I just moved back home, in MD the Washington Post stopped your comic. I had to get it on-line. Now I get the Sunday comic Saturday. I wanted to say how much I loved that the kids dressed Farley like they did. We had three OES over the years, and did the same thing to them, mostly at Halloween. It sure brought back good memories.

I was so sad when you stopped your story line(s) and went back to the old strips. I was grateful for the epilog but it was like having old friends move away. Since then, though, I've been thoroughly enjoying the joys and tribulations of a young family. I didn't get to see most of these the first time through and they're marvelous. Thank you. AND there's the bonus of knowing how everyone grows up. Thanks again for one of the bright spots of the day.

I came across FBoFW quite by chance in Japan of all places! I went over there to teach English and took over a flat assigned to all ALTs (Assistant Language Teachers) in Hisai, Mie-Ken. My predecessor had left Starting from Scratch and There Goes My Baby. I picked them up and became instantly hooked. When I left Japan in 1998 I went another 10 years before your fantastic characters came back into my life. Last Christmas I received Home Sweat Home as a Christmas present and started to track down the collections on Amazon. Just 9 months later I have 20 regular collections and 3 specials!

The storylines make me laugh, cry, think and discuss. I feel privileged to have fallen into your world and treasure its effect on my own. I have been married for 19 years and have 4 children and sometimes feel as if my life is being played out in the cartoon! I wonder if you have ever thought of approaching British newspapers given the universal nature of your strip. On second thoughts though I rather like being a member of a very exclusive club of British fans so maybe its just as well!

Thank you, Lynn for everything.

I just took a look at the photos of Lynn and Farley. Just beautiful! All the work that has gone into the making of a Farley plush shows! Looks just as great as the drawing, but more cuddlier than the Saturday edition of the Ottawa Citizen.

i have enjoyed the strip for many years - and artistically i can and do appreciate the rejuvenation of the story, its never a bad thing to start from the beggining every so often- i will say though i miss the original line i've been reading for so many years i really must thank you for the painstaking depth of detail, for years of excellent stories of the family and loved how you progressed and let the characters age, and i will need to find out what happened and finish the years old storyline and say Thank you for so many years of excellent art and writing . (i've been reading since i was for so long that i've forgotten(elementary school or earlier) when i started and im now 25)

I think this the truest slice of life ever and the one cartoon I read faithfully every morning and the funniest. I couldn't tell if you were a female cartoonist or a cynical male cartoonist, who is having problems at home this week. I laughed my socks off!
