I really don't understand why people like NB just can't enjoy the wonderful storys Ellie writes for us. Going to school every year is like a new beginning. Each year is brand new and a fresh start. Stop picking nits. Its just a comic strip enjoy it. I have read every day and its like a real family to me!

No one said that yesterday was Michael's first ride on a schoolbus--only that it was the first day of school. Some of us sentimental mothers cry every year on the first day.

To NB of Houston TX: So stop reading it then! Everyone else seems to like it!

Ah the return of Deanna Sobinski. This is one of the Enchanting Benefits of Lynn Johnston adding more to the past. When the two characters met as adults (after Deanna's car accident), it was stated that Michael had a crush on her but we never saw the full story in the strip. In book collections I've read Lynn's tale on the Deanna/Michael early relationship so it puts a smile on my face to now see this in pictures. The open-eyed grin on Michael's face is adorable. Thank you kindly.

I have a strange question. I was reading "Just a simple Wedding" and noticed on the strip from Sunday February 24, 2008 (Thanks to the online archives for the date!) that the handwriting seems to be different. Was that just Lynn with a bit of italic flare to the lettering, or did someone else do the lettering for that day? It's bugged me every time I've seen that strip!

Jana H, Sault Ste Marie, ON, Canada

For a time, one of Lynn's staff members did some of the lettering. No one can remember for sure for that particular strip, but that may have been one of those days!

I have been reading the strip since it began - with a big gap in the middle when we moved to Scotland...I will really enjoy filling in the blanks, meanwhile it is very nice to revisit old friends.Thank you.

I have been in Kuwait, then Iraq, and now Afghanistan and am dreadfully behind in my FBOFW but am trying to "catch up" as fast as I can. ?? I did notice some of the staff have moved on (not sure when), or at lease or not in the studio tour any longer and I was wondering about that. On an up note we have a large Canadian force here (and many others) and I have the good fortune to talk to many and invariably ask if they read FBoFW and if they have been to Corbeil. Answers are varied, but the conversations are all great!

Take care and thanks for providing a highlite to my LONG days.

Drew, IL, USA

Several of Lynn's talented staff did indeed move on once the strip went into "hybrid" mode in 2008.

Good luck in Afghanistan, and stay safe!
