I loved, loved, loved the strip that ran today (19 August, 2009), with little Michael hugging the house. My little Mitch does that whenever we come home from a trip, even if it was only a few days! Thank you for all the laughter and tears!

In Wednesday's comic strip, I can relate to Michael. Sometimes, I pass by the house where I grew up. It is not in a safe neighborhood anymore. I see my old bedroom window, and in my mind, I wonder if our house misses us. Silly, but true.

I enjoy reading your website, and doing a few games each morning. I was so disappointed when the San Diego Union Tribune quit carrying your cartoon, but I found it on the internet that morning, and it is always one of the first places I look. The San Diego Union-Trib is going out of business, anyway.

I grew up reading FBORFW, and so, naturally, I find the new take on John a bit strange. I remember him being a good, caring father and a loving husband, but that's not what I'm seeing anymore. He seems indifferent to both his wife and his children, and not all that removed from his mama's boy pal, Ted. The truth is, though, the earliest strips have faded from my memory, so I can't really be sure how much of this version of John was always there, and how much has been re-invented. Is this just my nostalgia being shattered?

Now that the strip is re-running, will we see Elly's mother (Grandma Marian) this time around? I don't remember ever seeing her. thanks!

Marian did appear several times in the early years and will be back again. Stay tuned!
