The Health Care question from the US has prompted me to write. I have been watching and reading about the debate in the states with amazement. Why anyone would be willing to submit to a system in which the insurance company, not the doctor, gets to decide which treatment should be followed is beyond me. And the that is the situation those lucky enough to have coverage in the states are in. Those without coverage are in the position of having to let money decide what treatment they can get. We hear the remarks Americans make about Canadian healthcare in amazement because most of it is untrue or exaggerated. Yes, there are concerns in the Canadian system with wait times, etc. Those concerns arise because everyone will be treated, no matter what their circumstances. We would not give up our system. Try to improve it, yes, give it up, never!

Here's to better health for all.

I've been reading FBOFW since amazon recommened Lynns books to me and I've been hooked ever since, I bought all the past collections and then followed the strip till the end last year online. Its great to be re-visiting all the old strips and can never understand why the strip was never picked up by the British press.I'm off to tour around Ontario in the Autumn and look foward to seeing all the places I've read about 'for real'. I know it sounds silly but when Ellies Mum died it brough a tear to my eye, as did the end strip. Please keep up the good work Lynn.

I've read the strip since the very beginning. I was loyal enough to accept the changes. But why are the characters seeming so one dimensional to me now? Why is John such a sexist? Why is Elly so neurotic and insecure? And are we back in the 70's, 80's, or 90's? Do they have cell phones? I understand that maybe peeling away the complexity of the strip to make it more raw and to the point might have been your goal, but the complexity of the old characters, and the way their lives changed just as mine did are the things that made the strip so great in the first place.

I'll keep reading, but I have to admit I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as before. I still feel like Michael and Deanna are out there doing something, and I'd like to know what.

Is Farley camping too? We used to take our dog with us and he'd wake us up every morning as soon as the sun came up, but he was just a little terrier and not a sheepdog like Farley filling up the tent! Farley wasn't in the car in yesterday (8-12)'s strip, was he in the trunk? :-)

Milo T, Vancouver Island, BC

Nope. The Patterson station wagon doesn't have a trunk! Farley is having his own holiday at a well-respected local kennel while his family is away.
