LOL!!!! I'd be a wealthy woman if I had a dollar for each time that scenario has played out in my house.
Take heart, Ellie. After being in the fridge for any length of time, that donut almost certainly would have lost its charm, and you would have had all the calories with none of the satisfaction.
As one who has waged a life long battle with weight, may I offer the following suggestion? Declare to yourself and to the rest of the house hold that there are no forbidden foods, only things that fall into the category of planned splurges. As such, you may enjoy them on infrequent occasions without guilt, self-recrimination, or any other negative emotions that will only fuel a desire to munch on the wrong stuff for the wrong reasons.

Boy oh boy oh boy. Can I ever relate to today's strip! Everytime I look forward to something that is in the fridge, freezer or cupboard, it is usually gone! And I don't have kids! My husband is the kid. Now I just have the goodies at work where I can take my time eating them!

Mike and Liz have never been two years apart. The first year of the strip corresponded with Michael completing kindergarten and beginning grade one. During year two, Liz celebrated her second birthday. (The strip referencing her age was not reprinted in Is This "One of Those Days," Daddy?, though it can be found in Suddenly Silver [Michael is proud of having bought a present for his sister's second birthday]--he birthday strip does appear in ITOoTDD; look closely and count the two candles!)
For much of the strip's continuity, Mike and Liz were four years apart. However, at a certain point, her birth year was shifted, making them five years apart.

Hi, Lynn! I've been a fan for years and enjoy going to the "Who's Who" section and reading character biographies from time to time. Now I notice most of the names have been deleted (those that have no connection with the strip in it's current state). Would you consider re-posting them somewhere under "Classic Content"? Would you also please include the "wrap up" strip from August? Sometimes I like to reminisce.
Susan R, AZ
All of the biographies are still available in the "classic content" section of the website: http://www.fborfw.com/features/who/. The wrap-up strip can be found in the Strip Fix archives: http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/archives/003336.php Happy reminiscing!
I started reading FBOFW when it was first hatched, and have followed it forever. My kids were about the same ages as Mike and Lizzie; the story lines and childrens' behaviors echoed that of my own munchkins so often! When our local newspaper cut several comics from their pages, I searched online until I found it. My day still starts fresh with a laugh, a smile or a lump in my throat, thanks to Lynn. As far as the use of the word "got" or "gotta", that's how children speak!! If writers used totally correct (adult) language for little kids, it would be stilted and vain. Keep up the good work, Lynn and crew, and Illegitimi Non Carborundum!!
