Moms Are Magic....beautiful tribute to moms, out of the mouths of babes. Thanks Lynn.

One of the things I have noticed since the "relaunch" of FBorFW is that all the negative coffe-talk posts have vanished! It is so refreshing to stop by for a cup and read how much everyone is enjoying your strip. Don't stop Lynn, FBorFW makes my day!

Not quite all, Genoa!
So many zookeepers feel zoos would be even better if they weren't open to the general public and Sunday's strip gives to excellent examples of why. First, John lets Michael walk on top of a wall. Safety liability much? If Michael fell, it would be the zoo that was responsible for medical expenses, not the Pattersons. Insurance for zoos is high enough without idiots like John allowing their children to treat walls, fences, benches, and barriesr like playground equipment. There's a reason signs stating 'DO NOT CLIMB ON WALL' are clearly posted. If Mike wants to climb and play, John can take him to a playground. Until then, he can do the intelligent, responsible thing and not put Mike at risk for serious injury.
No, John is not amusing or funny. He's acting like a complete idiot, and by staring at the primates and showing his teeth, he is challenging them and showing aggression. Those around John and Mike felt sorry for Mike, having a dad who thought it would be fun to make a complete and total fool of himself in public, and I guarantee the zookeepers would be taking bets on if the primates threw poop at the idiot going spastic in front of their enclosure, and every single one of them would be hoping the primates did because John would richly deserve it.

We catch a glimpse of "old Elly" in the July 25 comic. I always found it interesting how her nose got bigger over time. Supposedly our nose and ears never stop growing, but I think her "old nose" made a premature appearance in this strip!

As a long-term reader of your strip, I would just like to say that I am enjoying the new format so much! At first I thought I would miss the old format and it's wide array of characters way too much to really get into the new strip, but I have found that my delight in the 'new way' Lynn is doing things has outweighed that melancholy feeling. It is fabulous to see Moms get hailed for being magical out of the mouth of little Michael. It makes me glad these moments will be frozen in time and continue on this way forever - in fact, it makes me almost envious in a way. :)

I have loved this comic strip since I started reading it in the fourth grade. Now, a senior in college, I still can't get enough of the Pattersons. I re-read the strips covering Liz's wedding and found myself bawling my eyes out. Thanks for making the story so relatable to everyone.

I'd sure like to see some fresh words in the FOOD FIGHT game. I do several of your games every morning to keep my brain alive, and especially like FOOD FIGHT and the match the box games. Thanks!

The words in Food Fight are changed at regular intervals, and a new set is coming up very soon. Stayed tuned!
Lynn, when I could no longer find your strip in our local newspaper (The Plain Dealer) quite awhile ago, it was very upsetting! I didn't think to try to find you on-line. Well today I did, and it's a very special day for that reason but also, today is my birthday! What a great birthday gift, finding this site and your strip again! After reading the blogs I see you are "recycling" your strips, which is a fine idea with me. I've been a fan since the 70's - the Patterson kids ages were close to mine so I could relate and enjoy your sweet and sad, funny and poignant reflections on Elly's life throughout all these years. Thank you for smiles and reflections and thoughts for the day, now I can once again enjoy them! God bless you.

I'm aware that this may sound silly, but I was searching the internet to see why old reprints of For Better or For Worse were being printed in the local newspapers here; I was unaware of the retirement of Lynn. What, to me anyways, is silly is that upon finding this site, I immediately went to the sections for Farley! As long as I can remember, I've been reading your comic strip since I've been old enough to read the comics and have found that I'm not too much older than the comic strip itself (I was born in 1980)!! But of all the characters, Farley is the one I love the most. I remember the days leading up to and the day of his passing, and I remember my mom asking me why I was crying reading the comics. I always related to Farley because he reminded me of my own dog, Mookie, who I lost when I was 17, due to cancer and old age. This is were the silly part comes in: Although Farley is a comic strip character, at now 28 years old, I re-read the script and once again!cried like a baby upon the death of Farley. I know it's silly, but I can't help but think of my own dog Mookie and Farley together!
For years from now, when I'm an old, gray man like Grandpa Jim, I'll still remember my favorite comic strip dog, I'll re-read the strips leading up to Farley's passing, find myself crying and hopefully one of my grandchildren will ask their grandpa why he's crying, and I can pass on the legend of Farley and his Patterson family to an all new generation.
And if a Farley ever did exist and there so happens to be a place of rest for him, tell him that some 28 year old on Long Island is one of his biggest fans.
