I recall the strip where Michael and John play in the leaves. It was reprinted on Sunday, October 8, 2008.
As for Michael being "four or five" in the strip: the first year of the strip--September 1979 to September 1980--showed the beginning of Michael's kindergarten school year through his start of grade one. He was never four years old in the original run of the strip.

There is not one man that I know that would put up with what you show 'elly' doing to her husband. Sad. Truly sad.

Regarding Saturday's comic:- It might be that Annie has a working dryer and is hanging her laundry out on a breezy day to help the planet and save a bit on her electric bills. Since she also takes pride in serving organic food,it would fit.
But I have a suspicion that her dryer is broken and that Steve, her husband, has notfixed it. She just doesn't want to admit this to Elly. When we first met Anne, on September 15th whe was hanging out laundry because the drier was broken and Steve was away.(Therefore he couldn't fix it)
I suspect the drier was one of Steve's garage sale bargains and he never got it properly fixed so it breaks often. According to her bio in Who's Who, Steve bought all sorts of stuff for their fixer-upper house and had big plans for remodeling with bargains obtained at auctions & sales. But the remodeling never happened. Before Christopher was born she had to patch up the nursery herself. Although she likes to talk with Elly about Connie's divorce she does not want to admit to her friend yet that Steve falls short as a husband.
One of the great things about having FBorFW archives on the website is being able to go back in the story and take a second look at every strip with a chosen character, especially when that character is Anne Nichols. It's also worth reading her bio in the "Classic" section as well as the shortened version in "Explore More" even though the "Classic" Who's Who bio includes stuff that hasn't happened yet in the revised rewritten version, so it might not happen or it might happen in a different way in the rewrite.
