Lynn is a genius, locating the Patterson home squarely between that of harried homebody Anne and "questing Connie". And she's good at "shading" characters so we aren't stuck with Cardboard stereotypes -- ue, "The Feminist", "The Traditional Wife", etc. Broad-shouldered Anne gets tired from time to time --who doesn't? Connie wonders if being "Independent" is really all that much fun -- why shouldn't she? And our well-adjusted Elly still has regrets about missed opportubities in Life -- who hasn't had those feelings as well? FBorFW isn't a "Soap Opera" or "just a Comic Strip" -- it's a very well-crafted "Graphic Novel"!

Strips beginning in March 2003--available on this site--include Dee wondering about returning to work. And Elly assuring her that, with a good daycare provider, little Meredith would be fine. Surely, nobody needs a comic strip to validate their lifestyle. But FBorFW has "endorsed" both Stay At Home Moms & Working Moms. Unless those Working Moms expect their husbands to care for the children--as Therese did after Anthony promised to be a house-husband...

I am enjoying the re-runs so to speak. I have been a fan of the strip since it began although being a military wife we were sometimes in places where we didn't get it in the local newspaper (before internet). One of the storylines that I missed and would love to see it added into the classic content sections is April's arrival into the world. When that happened we were stationed on Guam and I missed it. Many thanks.
