I'm looking at the strip posted at yahoo comics for May 5, which I guess will be the same on your web page. I had three children; with each of them I got to enjoy the delight of their self-discovery. That said, I do not understand why Elly's expression has gone from happy in the first three panels, to what it is in the last one - "not happy" is the only way I can describe it. It's not sad, gobsmacked, shocked or anything. It's like Elly might have remembered that she had bills to pay, or saw that the mirror needed to be cleaned. Elizabeth's expression is more like she's answering an oral exam than celebrating the being of her existence.

I read Saturday's comic about turning off the TV with my 8 year old son. He had the biggest smile on his face when we got to the last box. Lynn, you got it right.... again!

I can't help but flash "back to the future" when reading these strips. I think of how April called Liz "lizabeff" when she was a baby. When I see Elly trying to toilet train Baby Lizzie, I still see the woman she grows up to be, and think of some of the tough times the young woman faced (or will face), i.e. when Eric breaks her heart, the attempted rape. I still see Elly consoling Liz after she hurt her knee that one New Year's Eve, and then spending the week with her at Mtigwaki. It's only "baby-talk" and potty chairs temporarily. Such is the richness of "For Better or For Worse."
