Thank you Amanda L of Richland, WA for you comments. I appreciate anyone that assists animals. We adopted our two little Farlies almost two years ago, ours are Chihuhua-terrier mixes. My co-workers make fun of me that I go home at lunch to let them out for pees and poops!! The reward I get is clean floors and happy puppies, lots of smooches.
If you work late people try and get your pets a mid-day rest break. Pay a neighborhood kid and teach them some responsiblity, work with the parents naturally to be sure the maturity level is equal to the task. If you have snowy weather shovel a path or even better a couple of figure eights in your yard. Your pets won't stumble in the snow and will spend enough time outdoors to ensure they "go" and won't pee and poop in the house. They get just as upset as you do about it...

I really find it interesting to see some of the old strips, since I totally missed those, when I tuned in around when Merrie was 1, April was 11 or 12 - during the fairly "modern" panels of the Patterson lives. I look forward to seeing concrete illustrations of how their characteristics came to be as it is "today", and I also can't wait to see things like Dee's and Mike's wedding, April being born, Liz meeting Anthony for the first time, etc. Thanks for years of commitment and dedication and hard work! I hope you are enjoying your retirement.

I still believe Lynn needs to apologize for her appauling strip "kicking" Farley the other day. Children who read this comic need to know THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR" Lynn - step up to the plate.

Once the "pet stain" soaks into a carpet's underlay, all the "Whiffex" in the world won't help. A popular remedy used to involve taking a medical syringe, filling it with bottled cologne, and "injecting" the spot. I'm afarid I can't testify for the effectiveness of this method, as all our family "pets" back then were canaries!

I just had to laugh at yesterday and today's strip:I too am a soap opera fan of Guiding Light, and have been for a few years! It is getting less interesting, but still is pretty addictive, as one can get attached to the characters.(I AM kind of embarassed to admit this!) :-) Keep up the good work.People also need to remember that these old strips aren't generally Lynn being "biased!" It's just how some people still thought back then--remember?!!!

I love people complaining on this. For one, it's a comic strip. John's behavior, while annoying at times (to me as a feminist), is believable because the original storyline began 30 years ago. Things were different then. And I'm decently sure there are still households out there where the man of the house is still oblivious to the idea that he should pitch in every once in a while.
As for kicking the dog out... those who complain about it have obviously never owned a dog. Every one of our dogs has been sent outside (in a safe way) just to get out of our hair for a while, usually because of a mess that has been made or because they need to burn off some energy chasing squirrels. In fact, if they've made a mess, it's better to get them out of the house because of the potentially harmful chemicals in cleaning supplies used to clean up their messes!

Hi--I loved the strip where you kicked out the dog. :-) I have six small dogs at my house, and I spend several hours each day cleaning up after them! I love dogs, but hate the mess. Don't let those so-called "animal lovers" get you down.

Oh, no! A comic strip character put a dog outside! People will be putting their dogs outside right and left!

For crying out loud... I have 2 cats and a dog at this time in my life. I've had many many more in the past -- I'm 56. I love them. They are my family. I've gone broke taking care of them and put my needs second when their need arises. They are animals. They don't vote, answer the phone, wash my dishes, or bring home money for my rent (including a hefty pet deposit). I reserve the right, on a nice day to give my llasa apso a swift trip outside if I'm cleaning and she's interfering. I get to isolate a cat who is upchucking in one of the bathrooms if there is a continuing furball problem -- with a toy, food, water, bedding cat box etc.
Lynn can't adequately graphically convey Elllie's disgust at "doggy carpet" that defies expensive treatment unless it's shown to be literally "the boot" for Farley -- into a lovely fenced back yard on a nice non-snowy day. People who think that this condones "animal abuse" should volunteer for shelter/breed rescue programs. SHEESH!
Sharon H, PA
That WAS wrong of Elly to kick the dog. Having to clean up after your dog is part of the responsibility of owning a dog. They deserve lots of love & care.

I've been reading For Better or For Worse practically since I learned how to read. I always loved that Michael and I were the same age, so it was easy to relate to his perspective. When I first read about the reboot of the strip I was a bit disappointed. Now, that it's actually happened, however, I really am enjoying it. My daughter is the same age as Elizabeth and so now I am able to relate to the strip in a whole new way.

I laughed so hard at Sunday's comic when Farley got 'the boot.' I cannot imagine why anyone would find this offensive. I am saddened that folks only see the literal meaning of so much and miss the laughter in our lives. Also-I am 34 with two boys (4&2 years) Thanks for running these strips. Your old strip followed the path of my life and now this does too. YAY!!
