Reading the old strips has made me realize how much I hate Elly's gigantic nose. Why can't she continue to look normal and attractive, instead the super-cartoony?

when is the data for liz and anthony's big day or has it not been made let?i really can't wait for it, there such a good couple and i wish they had waited before they started seeing other people.

Thanks for steering away from that Liz-Anthony storyline. It was really creeping me out.

Haven't you, as parents, gotten so involved in something your doing that you "hear" what is being said, but don't really "understand" until you come up for air? My daughters did this to me just today. And all I was doing was cooking dinner, getting ready for work and feeding a baby. They said "Mom, can we have a snack?" I said sure. Not really knowing what time of day it was and just what snack they wanted. So guess what? They got cookies. LOL
Besides having this happen to you as a parent, don't you remember taking advantage of extreme parental distraction to get something you know would otherwise be withheld from you? Don't you remember getting caught by Mom having cookies and saying "Daddy said so!"
Remember people, this is only a comic strip. It's intention is to make us laugh at ourselves, not dig down deep in our psyche.
Enjoy life, laugh a little, and quit reading so much into EVERYTHING!!!! Life is way to short for that.
By the way, I think Liz, April and Elly are just fine. Why change them? It's their body, hair and clothes. They are not fashion plates and never have been. Why should they bend to society's view of what is considered beautiful? What matters is what's inside, not outside. Peace and Blessings from California.

Ugh teeth and cocktail parties just don't mix in my book.

Hi Lynn,
You and your staff do such a wonderful job on the strip and on the web site. Keep up the good work.

Sunday's strip was hilarious! I see a lot of people have asked how dare Michael ignore Merrie, but well, it's a comic strip! It's FUNNY!!! So, Meredith might not have eaten her supper last night? She won't die.

I didn't know I could comment like this! I have read every one of your stories. Our children grew up together (Nathan is 36 and Dayspring almost 31)with yours and we have grown "old--er" together. I have lost a parent and watched the declining health of the other. I work in a nursing home and see people deal with the issues you present all the time with your dad. I saved all the ones of your pregnancy and when Dayspring was pregnant I made a scrapbook of mother/parenting/baby essays and your comics as a gift to her. My kids were born at home, but unlike April, it was on purpose. You still have a lot of stories to tell so keep at it!! Thanks, Lynn, for the love and laughter, sighs and tears. I'd love to meet you sometime.
Blessings,
Stephanie
I literally grew up on FBOFW. I am 27 year old mom of three and can relate to basically all of the characters Lynn created...but here's the thing...they are JUST characters!
Originally from Toronto, I sometimes feel like I might see these people! Like I might run into April coming home from school or get a book from the bookstore... but then reality clicks and reminds me that THEY AREN'T REAL!
Lynn, how talented you are to have many of us criticizing the way that Michale treats his children, the way that Elly and John are handling retirement, the way that Elizabeth dresses! Your characters are real in our heart, and I thank you for them.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo AJUA!!!!!
This is the day our neighbors to the south won their independence from France! I hope you're all taking a little time to celebrate!
I have a question. This weekend I had time to read one of the many books I've ordered from you (the only thing reading worhtwhile as far as I'm concerned). And I noticed a strip in which Michael was invited to dinner at Deanna's house to meet her parents. In one frame Deanna's dad asked a woman (Deanna's mother I assume) to pass the potatoes. He called her Eva.
I did some digging in the Who's who of FBorFW and found Andrea and Mira Sobinski, but no Eva. I know other characters have had name changes after they were first introduced into the strip. Is this an early name Lynn had for Mira or was it a sister of Deanna's I don't know about?
I love "spending time" with the Pattersons. They are my favorite comic strip family. I love dropping in on them because I know I am always a welcomed guest no matter what happens to be going on at their house. There is always an extra place at the dinner table or a comfortable chair in the family room. I also feel welcomed to tag along with Elly and Connie on one of their long walks.
Thank you Lynn and company for providing an "escape" for me. I always feel refreshed after one of my many visits with you.

You're right - Mira had a name change at some point!
To everyone who was bashing Mike in the Sunday strip, Lynn was poking fun at herself. In her "suddently silver" anniversary book, she talks about how she'd be so into writing the strip that her kids knew it was the best time to ask, " Can I..." and usually get whatever they asked for. I remembered reading where Lynn's daughter asked "can I have some cake" and she was already eating it.

I just found Ned---that's the 1st thing I do on Mondays at the computer---look for Ned. Keep up the work Lynne---it's great!!! We all appreciate it so much.

I think that Michael is doing a really good job as a father, how can anybody expect him to be perfect?
Yes he is working on his novel, but Lynn has shown him spending quality time with Robin and Meredith. What about the rerun strips? I do remember some of those being connected to him reminiscing with the little ones nestled with a photo album.
So give him a break, he's got lots of work to do too.
