It's really hard to imagine someone like Warren giving up his flying career "Cold Turkey". Could it possibly be something medical?

Years ago my job required me to be in daily contact with Charter Pilots who ferried passengers and supplies into Canada's northern Bush Country. I remember well one young, energetic and very popular Captain who became permanently "grounded" when the physical he was required to undergo before accepting a job offer from a major Airline revealed that he had developed Diabetes --a mild form of the disease, but enough to rule out ANY type of flying. He was devastated by the news --as were all of us! He apparently continued to work in Aviation (as an Instructor, I believe) but I lost touch with him when my job and I got transferred further East. "Warren's Return" sure brought a lot of memories flooding back....!

At last, Liz shows some spirit. Her relationship with Warren was never intense & appeared to have just petered out. Suddenly, he turns up & complains that he Has No Hooome! So she tells him off--although nothing had prevented her from doing so previously.

Too bad that spirit was lacking when Anthony made the same complaint. Although Liz's state of mind after being attacked may have prevented her from angrily reminding Anthony of his obligation to his wife & baby.

I had long hair and would always pull it back into a quick bun when studying or working on a craft project. Otherwise it falls in your face.

I do see Liz being drawn more like Ellie. But I think it is the natural evolution of life. Like in Tuesday's strip where she looks over her glasses at Warren. Daughters just naturally pick up little habits like that from there Mom's. We also pick up our facial expressions, vocal tones, and favorite sayings. It just happens! Keep up the good work Lynn!

Yes, absolutely straight on.
Liz, you go girl! Don't let Warren get in the way of your common sense or in the way of the adventure you're on.
In my opinion, love is the truest adventure anyone can ever embark on. It will take you through adventures more exciting then anything you can encounter in the Amazons or the Outback -- wonderful places as they are.
Getting to know someone, love them, promise a life time with them and work and struggle to make that come true.
That's bottom line -- and I wish that most wonderful odyssey for everyone reading this.

Wow, even though Warren is the one showing up late at night uninvited, Liz manages to be the bigger jerk here. Has she always been such a selfish needy hypocrite? Though neither of them are still as big a jerk as Anthony. I guess asking your wife to make one sacrifice after another while not being able to keep the one you promised and then dumping all of your problems onto an assault victim is kind of hard to beat in the jerky behavior department.
I think it's best for all involved for Liz to just stay single.

Yeah, Liz, way to dump that sleaze bag. I never did like Warren, always felt skeptical about him. Not that Anthony is Mr. Perfect but he is stable and Liz doesn't have to worry abot him leaving for half the year. A more interesting twist would be to announce to Warren right now that she and Anthony are engaged or better yet pregnant with his baby so a wedding is inevitable.

Here's a quick question: at what point did Liz and Warren have a relationship? It seems to me that he'd actually have to be him boyfriend to dump her, not that he did. I've read the strip for the twenty eight and a half years it's been published and saw no signs that Blackwood was anything more than one of Elizabeth's more minor acquaintances. And yet, she gives him the treatment she'd give a real boyfriend who'd disappointed her for the laast time. I've heard of flattering someone but allowing him to think he was a contender is almost as silly as her thinking that to be serious, a man has to be able to drop everything on her say-so. She'd look less foolish if she'd pointed out how selfish of him it was to drop her in the middle of the Paul/Susan mess.

Great. Now Liz not only LOOKS like her brother, she's beginning to act like him. Me, me, me... the world revolves around Elizabeth Patterson.

I am concerned about the return of Warren. I feel he betrayed Elizabeth when he flew her back to Mtigwaki knowing that she would find Paul with Susan. It seemed cruel for him to allow her to walk in on that situation with warning. Liz deserves someone with more compassion. I like Anthony.

I am so excited to see the reappearance of Warren! I can only hope that the spark will reignite between Elizabeth and Warren. That is a much more endearing, much more realistic avenue than the storyline of getting back together with the woebegone, now divorced Anthony. Warren may have been less than perfect, but that's the way REAL people are. I like it--stick with that story! Your fan forever!

I have been reading with some interests people's comments about Elizabeth's hair. Honestly...I am a teacher, and have spent quite enough time in a classroom, lesson planning and correcting papers late at night. Yes, wearing one's hair in a bun when doing such work is very comfortable and practical, even at home at 10pm at night. Liz is a teacher, she is young but is still a teacher and looks the part. There is nothing wrong with that as she has a very hard working and respectable job.

NO NO NO!!1
Do not let Warren come from out the the "blue" back in to Liz's life. His job, was always in the way of their relationship. What happens when he finds another one!! I sorry, but as boring as Anthony is, he's her best friend, and in the long run, that's what really counts. Love is nice, I've been married for over 30 years, but my husband was my best friend first!!!

I love reading the comments from other readers . . . and the reassurance that I am not the only one that can get caught up in this strip and the lives of the Patterson's!

I enjoy the fact that the strip is so much like real life . . . the joy (and occasional frustration) we get from little things and little folks and that our lives really do not follow a script. That when we least expect it we have those moments that can be 'ah-ha' or 'oh, $#%&!' That people do leave and some do come back but that things aren't the same . . . experiences and feelings have changed us, matured us, moved us along. Robert Frost's 'The Road Not Taken' comes to mind. I look forward to seeing what happens with Liz, Warren, and Anthony.

And to the folks that are concerned about the women's hair. Many women with long hair do wear their hair up when alone --- keeps it out of the way, out of the burners on the stove, away from the cats pulling on it, out of our faces, etc.

Of course that's just my 2p. Your experience may be different.
