« Letters to Lynn, part 1 | Main | Letters to Lynn, part 3 »
This week, while the studio is closed, we'll be posting some of Lynn's responses to reader mail. Feel free to keep submitting your own comments; we'll read them when we get back on January 2nd.
From Wendy in Saskatoon:
I understand that "JIM" in the strip is based on your real--life father. I have been following your "stories" for many years; thus I was wondering if your real-life father had a stroke? And, if he has had difficulty communicating as illustrated in the strip.
I have designed a chart to assist health care workers and familie communicate with patients who are unable to speak. The chart enables patients to request simple needs, send messages and alert caregivers to various conditions or symptoms. I've just begun this project, and so far the charts are available in some drugstores in Saskatoon. However, if you would like to have one, please contact me and I would be happy to send one to you.
Lynn's response: Dear Wendy, Thanks for your kind message. The "Grandpa Jim" character looks like my dad and has his character - but my real dad died many years ago. The stroke story has been done with the help of my neurologist and friends who are living with aphasia - the result of a stroke. I would very much like to see your chart! Sincerely,
