Mike, the guy who ran from his job at the very first hint of unpleasantness, thinks that telling somebody not to give up is good advice? That's the funniest part of today's strip!

"To a cool sister?" This is seriously what Mike is writing to his sister in her copy of his first book? Does he have a heart?
As a memeber of the literary world, I know how awful this is. Even authors who don't know the person try and personalize their signing somehow. Lynn, you would know this too. I can only assume then that this means Michael either does not know April very well or he is horribly shallow and self-centered.

I have been a devoted fan of FBOFW for years, largely because of the connection I felt to it. So often I felt like Lynn had been looking in my window for the text of her strips. So often what was happening in Elly's house was happening in mine...children born, growing up, getting married, having kids...parents aging and dying. I even owned a book store for a couple of years all about the same time Elly was at Lilliput's.
The "magic", though, of this strip, I imagine, is that it was probably not "just me"...that so many fans thought Lynn had her finger on their own pulse...that she knew their own family personally and had translated that into Elly's family.
And I just wanted to say, "Thank You" for understanding us all over all the years and validating our lives for us in the comic strips. That's an incredible gift you have.

You must know something about small children...I read Sunday's strip and I think I need that one on my wall. It's so perfectly TRUE! I don't know why it's so hard to get a 5 year old and a 3 year old dressed and out the door in a reasonable amount of time...but it is and you captured it beautifully. Thanks for the great strip. When are we going to see some more of Liz and Anthony? I like the flashbacks, but I like the new stuff too.

I am a 33 year old married man with 3 children and one more on the way. I began reading your stories about 18 years ago. I have absolutley enjoyed watching the Patterson's grow up in time and particularily Michael going through the same parenting issues as I am right now.I was very dissapointed to hear about the strip being frozen in time now. Make no mistake, I will continue to follow the strip daily, however, I wanted to let my feelings be known about the new direction. Best of luck with everything Lynn.
