« Wednesday November 7, 2007 | Main | What's Going On with FBorFW? »
I have been reading FBOFW since my oldest daughter was 1 in 1980. She grew up alongside Michael and my middle daughter grew up alongside Elizabeth. My third daughter is 10 mos. younger than April and it was so exciting reading all of April's stages, which were so much what I was experiencing everyday being an "older" mom and having a newborn daughter! Lynn really penned them accurately and I was convinced April really did exist in Lynn's life, until a friend told me she was imaginary and Lynn did not have a third child. I was amazed at how Lynn could get all the stages of motherhood and babyhood so right without actually going through it herself at that time! So, Lynn, thank you for writing so close to my life and heart. All in our family read you, including Paul, my husband. We are loving the old comics and also the new ones. All 3 daughters are following the Liz and Anthony story closely. Maybe we are softies, but we love Liz and Anthony back together, this time, with Liz becoming a step mom maybe soon! We somehow missed the PBS special on Charles Schultz. When was it on and will it be on again? Keep up the wonderful work, Lynn. We all need our FBOFW daily dose!!! We all buy your autographed new book every Christmas and in between, whenever another comes out, even though we've read them all in the comics. I read the daily every morning from my computer before going to work or for my jog. Thank you, thank you and big hugs. I also enjoyed your bideo interviews on line yesterday. You are wonderfully strong and inspiring!

I have loved FBorFW since I was young. I have tried to keep up with the Pattersons, by the way, they are my AB SO LUTE FAVOURITE family. I lost "touch" for awhile, but once I was able to rekindle the strip, it was like a blast from the past. Anyway, sorry to hear about the ending of an era, but I am much greatful that Lynn is incorporating the old with the new,it's awesome. Thank you for your many years of dedication to a great family that is almost a mirror image of my own. I have actually learned alot from Elly, especially her stress-relief techniques. A toast to a fantastic writer with a brilliant mind.

I really, really don't like the new (or old) drawings.

I love For Better or For Worse and always make sure to pick up the most recently published editions. I try not to peek in the paper and save myself for when the collections come out. SO I was quite surprized when I peeked one day a notice a different style of drawing. Also intrigued as well. So I kept a eye on the strip for a couple of days to find out what was going on. I think the "Hybrid" is a great idea. I collecting the books when Elizabeth was a teenager so this is a great way to catch up on this history of the whole family. I love the strip and am so excited to see how things got started out. Keep it up!

I recently discovered your website. I've loved the strip since it first appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer. While reading "Lawrence's Story", I felt I had to share my Mom's disconcerted reaction: "How would a teenager know if they're gay?" Mom knew that I've several gay friends (and lost several more to AIDS). I told her, "Mom, all of my friends knew when they were teenagers that they were different. Sure, they went to the proms and double-dated, but they knew they didn't fit in. Most came out when they graduated high school." "Well", she snorted, "what made them gay?" "Nothing MADE them gay, Mom. They were BORN that way!" She thought for a moment, remembering specific friends of mine. "Hmmm, well...now that I recall... I guess they always were gay, weren't they? I was always fond of your friends and they've gone on to accomplish great things."
Just wanted to let you know.
Keep up the good work!

FB&W is and has been the first comic my family has read in the morning for years. My youngest daughter is almost exactly the same age as April...and is very musical, making it so easy to relate. I am saddened that the family will be frozen in time as I will hate to have this wonderful journey with the Patterson's actually end. There are so many different and interesting things going on with all the characters, it just feels like it could go on forever. It will be like losing a best friend. I understand the reasons though. I hope the 'resolutions' of the main storylines are satisfactory.
All in all, just a great comic strip.
