FBOFW is absolutely wonderful. I have been reading it for years! Just one thing....I do wish that I could see Liz at work a bit more. Since she is a teacher, she must spend a lot of time at school and also marking papers and making up lesson plans. Other than that, thanks for the wonderful comic strip!

I saw Lynn Johnston's interview last week and was inspired and moved by the candid questions and answers on the life of FBorFW that so closely relates to Johnston's own life. I admired her bright outlook on her life and the future. And she's so comfortable with her emotions.
My strongest memory would be growing up beside Michael in his teen years. And of course at that time I never thought of the artist behind the story.
I would like to thank Lynn Johnston for having the courage and clarity of mind to make her life her work. To not be afraid to know so much about herself in such a colourful and joyful manner, as well. Her reward is a self-awareness that I rarely see in anybody these days. A great inspiration to others.
Sincerely,
Lillian
Hi Lynn,
I am an upcoming freelance artist/animator and love all comics and cartoons of all shapes and sizes. I've been an avid reader of FBOFW since Micheal and Liz's teen years. The Farley comics were especially dear to the heart and I love how April is growing up to be such a unique individual. The comic goes through the process of life, almost as if to make it easier to understand. I really admire the attention to detail in your art and story and hope in the future to become an artist like you.

I am enjoying this hybrid of old and new. Many of the strips I hadn't read given I was just young when the comic started. I really got into the comic in my teens. I really want to see what happens with Elizabeth though.
The last few years have been great. Our family had babies right along with the strip characters. We could really relate to what was happening in FBOFW. My newphew shares Robin's exact birthday and was even born by an emergency c-section.
Looking forward to more hybrid strips.

Your character, April, was 'born' March 31, 1991. My daughter was born April 17, 1991. I have followed April in your comic strip for the past 16 years. My daughter and April used to even look similar, same color of hair and similar build. April and Stacy have several similarities, even now, although my daughter has a different hairstyle. April works at a vet's office in the summer and wants to be a vet and likes working with animsls. My daughter also likes working with animals. She wants to be a naturalist. She volunteers at The Heard Natural History Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, looking after animals in their 'Live Room' and worked there as a summer camp assistant this past summer.
Also, Elizabeth's cat, Shiimsa, looks a lot like our Russian Blue cat, Peppermint.
Anyway, I will continue to follow April and your other characters and really enjoy reading your strip.

Liz thinks Mike is smart because he knows how to turn on water faucets? Yeah, that's the first thing the Nobel Prize Committee checks on too, the ability to manipulate household plumbing fixtures.
If that's all it takes to impress Liz, no wonder she's dating Anthony again.

thanks for the interesting pictures about Stephanie's trip to Washington DC. Our daughter has a long term head injury and is working hard at a new job so I enjoy reading about people who overcome obstacles. hugs,

It was such a pleasure to see Lynn on the Charles Shultz PBS program the other night..... my two favorite comic strips. Actually my ONLY favorites.
I often find myself telling folks about hearing you, Lynn, at the Smart Talk lecture in Wilmington, Delaware. It was one of the best.

I'm finding that one of the nice things about growing old is the various senior discounts available to us.
Today the first thing that caught my eye on the FBorFW website was "Senior Discount". Of course that is the new book title. I'm still excited even though it's not for my original reason.
