Lynn - Thank you for FBFW, I have been reading it for sixteen years. My girlfriend Carole made her sister in law a baby shower gift a collage of your columns during the time Ellie was pregnant as it coincided with the real life pregnancy! The experiences, all of them, were so on target it was eerie. While sad about the hybrid format, I do understand! I wanted to say thank you for the funny and real journey with the Pattersons.
PS. Not living in Canada I wasn't sure how to make a contribution to the Farley Foundation so my husband and I did the next best thing and recently adopted two little Farleys of our own. It is very rewarding.

Hi, Lynn. I just had to comment on the kids' antics (Robin & Meredith that is) with "Super Teddy". Seriously, have you somehow been spying in my parent's home? My younger brother had what a "Super Teddy" of his own, and more than once I 'borrowed' it from him. I'm now about the same age as Elizabeth, and am once again fondly chuckling at those childhood memories of that SuperTeddy winding up hooked on one of our ceiling fans, crashing through the back door window, even at one point winding up in the toilet!
I have been enjoying your strip for many years, especially the ones that I swear you spied on our family to write! I was nervous at first about the hybrid strips, but as I've come to learn, just because it's different doesn't make it bad! Keep up the wonderful writing. The Pattersons are as real to me as my own family.

Thank you for a wonderful comic. Everyday I have to find out what the Patterson's are up to. Hope that Liz finds her true man soon. Will Anthony be the one? What happened to the helicopter pilot?

My 8 year old son reads FBORFW with me every morning. This morning his sister's stuffed bunny turned into Super Bunny!
Thank you for the many laughs.

You deserve a much needed vacation ... but I wish that you would reconsider a couple of things. Please don't freeze your characters in time. What I love about your strip is that (like Gasoline Alley) your characters age. Yes, it will be sad to see Ellie's dad eventually die but this is part of life. And I would like to see April get out of her teenage years. If not, she will be experimenting with different boyfriends for the next 20 years.
Next, I don't mind an occasional look back in time but not every week. For I was afraid of happened today in our local paper: your strip has been dropped along with Peanuts. Now I will have to go online each day to view it. I know that you need more time for personal things but why not consider letting your staff doing the artwork and you write the stories? Or, it that just as time consuming?
Anyway, good luck it whatever decision that you continue to take. Thanks for all the good years! Hope they continue!

On the one hand, I treasure the way that the Patterson family and their friends have grown over the years. Sometimes I tell myself, "I must be nuts to get so involved in the lives of fictional people." Other times I say, "When my time finally comes to write fiction, I hope I do it as well as Lynn Johnston, and I hope she doesn't mind my borrowing some of her techniques." (I refer mainly to her ability to visualize her characters as fully realized, with all their history and complexity.)
