Liz, Anthony and Francie volume II

I am thrilled that Anthony and Elizabeth are rekindling their relationship. It's going to be interesting to see if and how they and Anthony's daughter Francois "blend" as a family--and what kind of trouble Therese might cause! So far, so good--but when the "honeymoon" is over, and reality sets in--there's the real story! I hope you have time to develop this before you retire!

Although the Francoise's stroller threw me when she ran off on her own, I was glad to see Anthony's sensitivity in Liz's reaction to his being a single parent. I appreciate your allowing this two a second chance together as I get so weary of seeing situation couples' courtships, marriages, and then their all too subsequent divorces. Many romances don't end that way...mine's still going 36 years later, albeit more in Elly and John's fashion.

I was very sad when Elizabeth and Paul broke up. I cannot believe that he cheated on her. I don't like the guy she is with now and hoped that she would have married Paul. Anyway, I never miss your comic strip. I read them faithfully every day, you are a great writer. The first one I read what the episode when April was born. Will Paul ever return to Elizabeth's life? I hope so.

Not sure if Anthony is Mr. Right? I really thought Warren was going to be the one after he made her aware of the situation with Paul. Plus they both share a sense of adventure. But it's time for Elizabeth to be happy so let's see her finally be loved and appreciated for the wonderful woman we have seen her grow up to be!

I'm glad to see Liz with a good guy. Paul was a good possibility, but Anthony is the better man. Noting can trump history and they have it!

I'm so happy to Liz and Anthony back together again. Their love story is reflective of many young couples who part company and then find their way back to each other after they've both had time to grow. Frannie may find herself having problems with Elizabeth, but since she's had no mother figure in her life at all, this may be something she welcomes with childish delight.

I have more to say on this week's arc.

I realized something awhile ago today. Waaaaayyy back when Liz was with Eric, I did want Liz and Anthony to get back together because it was clear that Liz and Eric did not have the same chemistry together that Liz and Anthony did. When it was clear that Eric was cheating on Liz and Anthony said he was engaged, I was disappointed, but I figured there would be either a repeat of the Mike/Deanna story or a thought-provoking exploration of how former lovers finally let go of the nostalgia of their former relationships and move on forever.

Well, that didn't happen. Instead, Lynn made Anthony go through with the wedding and devolve into a whiny loser who has no hoooooome and has the gall to ask Liz to wait in the wings for his marriage to end because he just can't BEAR to be single, and thus killed off any lingering chemistry between the characters. A week of sappy cliches is not enough to make up for the painful assassination. I stopped wanting a Lizthony reunion the moment Anthony's wedding ended, because then his Liz nostalgia was disrespectful to his vows and just plain bad taste.

This week's arc is not turning me back to the pro-Liz/Anthony reunion side. It's too late. Anthony was eliminated as a Liz suitor with his wedding. It's over. I don't enjoy seeing them together now. In fact I hate it!!!! I will NEVER forget all the events that happened before this week, no matter how much they are swept under the carpet. This arc is not working. Readers don't forget--I am convinced that the pro-Liz/Anthony commentators are in denial and don't want to remember Anthony's atrocious behavior during his marriage.

Dear Lynn,

THANK YOU SO MUCH for getting Elizabeth and Anthony back together!! I actually cried when I read your strip where Anthony gives Elizabeth a kiss. I've written to you before saying I vote for Anthony. Thanks for making my little comic strip dream come true! Love your comics!! Thanks also for your special note to me last January. I have it in my dining room hutch so eveyone can see it.

Always been a fan and always will be,
