Liz's Love Life
Here's a sampling of what people have had to say recently about Liz's love life:
My first introduction to Lynn's work was when I picked up "David, We're Pregnant" which I found hilarious! I got it to give at the next baby shower, but couldn't bear to part with it. I was elated years later when FBorFW came to our local paper, and I've been an avid fan ever since. I have loved the way that the characters have aged and changed as it has kept the script fresh, and as we've gottn to know who they are so deeply, it's been marvelous to see how their characteristics have guided their directions as they've gone into adulthood. And, life is not always easy, and so when Ellie's mom died, it was so warm & poignant to see how there was gentle humor and family support in that situation. Then when Jim had his stroke, that was dealt with so well, from both his and Iris' perspectives!!! (Both my Dad & sister had strokes, so this really hit home. And yes, there is lot of opportunity for humor even in these situations!)
Right now I am on the "edge of my seat" to see if Liz & Anthony will finally get together (Doesn't Liz realize that news of Anthony's divorce was the catalyst for her decision to leave Mtigiwaki?!) And I'm old-fashioned enough to want to see the sold, stable guy "get the girl."

Am I the only one who wants Elizabeth to get together with Warren? It's frustrating to see him 'blamed' for his work demands, when he obviously cares a lot about her. If he hasn't always 'been there for her' maybe SHE hasn't done too well communicating her needs! Anthony's nice, but does he love Liz-today or Liz-high school? Well, anyway, I'm rooting for Warren!

I hope Liz and Anthony, will find their way back to each other. You have done such an excellent job in telling their story. At times, over the years, It has "spooked" me because it is simular to a situation in my life. Liz and Anthony, are meant for each other. Everyone can see it, now will they?!

*sigh* I'm just waiting and waiting to see/hear what is going on at that wedding with Elizabeth & Anthony .. it's been soooooo long. And although I enjoyed the story line in the mean time .. please .. can you bring us back to the wedding. I'm so hoping those two will finally get back together..

I have also been with your strip for years and watched everyone grow up. But today I was so happy, I almost cried! I have been anxiously waiting for Elizabeth and Anthony to get serious about one another. My local newspaper stopped carrying the strip several years ago, and I would have DIED if I hadn't found it on the web! I run to my computer every morning after breakfast, and go right to the "strip". I have been really down every day, when it was not about Anthony and Elizabeth! It actually affects my whole day!
But this morning I am so happy I could cry!
Keep up the good work! Your strip is so "true to life" it is unbelievable....I also email certain strips to my kids, because it is so typical.
I will be waiting to be at Elizabeth & Anthony's wedding, along with that cute little girl of Anthony's as "bridesmaid"....???????

Today's strip depresses me. Please do not do it--Elizabeth and Anthony should remain friends. There is no chemistry between them and he is not interesting at all. In my opinion, Paul was the only suitor Elizabeth has had who treated her well and would have done anything for her. There interactions always seemed full of promise and excitement. I'm vastly disappointed at how you wrote him, and the lovely people of Mtig out of the strip.
I want to see Elizabeth get back to being the adventurous and lively individual she was at one time. Please do not make her a clone of Elly; please send her back up North to teach and continue growing in her independence.

To the poster who wants Liz and Anthony to get together. That's just such a terrible idea! It was so nice to see Liz branch out and go off on her own. The stories of her years in Mtigwaki were some of the most interesting of the strip. But no, Liz has to move back home and take up with Anthony. He's sad and pathetic and she can do so much better. He's just milquetoasty and not appealing in the least, even if he recently underwent an "Extreme Makeover."
What a blah end to what had been a great strip overall.

I love FBoFW, and Liz is my favorite character. I've been watching Anthony re-enter her life, and I don't like it. Anthony is a nice guy, but he has no pizzazz, no charisma. He's steady and solid and yes, in real life, he'd probably make a good husband. But...he bores me.
My choice for her? Warren. He really cares for her, and she's never really given him the chance he deserves.

What kind of man pines for his old high school sweetheart even after he's married, to the point where on the very day she is nearly raped, he runs the attacker off and then less than thirty minutes later, BEGS the attack victim to "wait for him" until after his divorce? A creepy thoughtless chump like Anthony Caine, that's who!She nearly got raped, you idiot; now is not the time to put more emotional turmoil into the mix. And I have NEVER seen him say or do a single funny thing, or be particularly successful. So he's a single parent - yeah, after he whined until his wife whom he KNEW didn't want children, finally had one to shut him up. The whole Therese-is-pure-evil story just bites. What do you have against career women? Why do women have to marry their first love in order to guarantee happiness?

I *do* hope that you will soon return to the story line with Liz and Anthony. I've been on the edge of my seat wanting to know what "move" he is going to make! I so very much want to see them together and getting married.
I've been a fan since I was pregnant with my now-16yo son, and the characters feel like real people to me.

Ok, I see it coming: Elizabeth's going back to Whiney-Pot Anthony. Would you consider giving him some contacts and no freckles, please? At least that annoying mustache is gone. I dont know why, but that kid's always irritated me. I think Elizabeth could do better, but I guess it's a security thing. She doesnt want to be an old maid. Perhaps John and Elly will give her a wingding of a wedding to make up for the uninteresting groom. But dont get me wrong, now! I love FBOFW and the storylines! It's the first strip I read every morning. Keep up the good work!

The selection of comments about Liz & Anthony is not statistically accurate. Most of the posted comments favour their reunion. In fact, most of the strip's readers oppose it. Not that reader opposition would (or should) stop Ms Johnston from doing what she wants with her strip. I just wanted to clarify, in case there is any doubt, that the vast majority of readers are horrified by the impending reunion, but resigned to the inevitability of it. It is clearly what Ms Johnston wants, and it is her strip, her characters. One thing no-one has brought up in the anti-Anthony comments is the fact that he already has a kid. This is reason enough for Liz not to be stuck with him, although there are plenty of other reasons as well. At this stage, I don't hold out much hope that she won't end up w/Anthony but, for the record, I am hoping that Warren is redeemed instead. All of Liz's men have had their characters trashed to make way for Anthony, and the savaging of Warren's character (the comments at Mike's party) was even more egregious than the trashing of Paul's. It was also a low blow to make Julia ugly so she was clearly no competition for Liz. I respect Ms Johnston's right to do as she pleases with her strip, but let there be no mistake that Anthony (and child) is not a desirable partner for Liz.

Don't listen to the Anthony haters, keep them together. So maybe he's not the most exciting guy on the planet but we can't all fly helicopters or work in the boonies. Besides, didn't those relationships turn out just great. Hum? Elizabeth got out and explored the great wide world at university and with her teaching so no regrets. Let her be happy and stable now and marry Anthony.
