About Laurie: Laurie is the Ojibwe language teacher who worked with Liz at the school in Mtigwaki. Laurie is a real person, a friend of Lynn's who teaches traditional Native crafts such as beadwork as well as working to preserve and document the Ojibwe language. Laurie is married to Perry McLeod-Shabogesic who helped Lynn develop Mtigwaki.
