Hospital Foundation: The
North Bay Regional Health Centre project is one of the most exciting projects in Northern Ontario and Lynn Johnston and the Patterson family are proud to be a part of it. Lynn worked with architect Brian Bertrand to design a unique community focused illustration which has become both a billboard and a recognizable "trademark" for this initiative. The construction of this advanced health facility will revolutionize health care delivery in our region.
Crimestoppers - Entercom Canada Inc. assisted in the creation of a program to help promote public awareness of prevention and solution of crime in North Bay and surrounding areas. At the centre of this program is Nipper The Crime Stopping Dog; a mascot that was developed by Lynn in partnership with the local police service. Nipper evolved into a larger-than-life costume and makes many public appearances to spread the word about "nipping crime in the butt!"
Lynn assists various charitable organizations through financial contributions or via donations of her artwork and time.
Lynn is proud to support the following groups:
Capitol Centre - A life-sized, sculpted Patterson family has their own permanent seat at North Bay's
Capitol Centre, home to the performing arts and the largest live theatre in Northern Ontario. Entercom Canada Inc. is a "Family and Education Series Sponsor" of the Capitol Centre.
Raising Readers - April Patterson's smiling face is seen on many of the promotional tools used to support the Raising Readers Early Years program. The goal of the program is to increase the ability of parents to assist their children in the development of literacy and problem-solving skills. This trilingual program services French, English and Ojibway-speaking families.
Connections Program: The Patterson family and Lynn Johnston supported the Connections program, aimed at supporting potential drop-outs and encouraging them to become successful, productive members of the community by helping them develop the skills necessary to achieve success in school. Lynn's company acted as the core funding agency which has permitted this valuable program to continue for more than ten years.
