Farley was the first Patterson pet. Elly and John brought home his son Edgar (by Connie's dog Sera) several years later. Dixie was Grandpa Jim's collie, whom the Pattersons adopted briefly while Jim settled into his new home.

April has had two rabbits. Mr. B was purchased by Elizabeth at a farm auction and Butterscotch was given to April by a classmate. Elizabeth took in a stray kitten while living in Mtigwaki and named her Shiimsa, which is Ojibwe for "little friend from the animal kingdom".

A Random Fact About The Pets:
Liz once left an elastic band around Farley's leg, necessitating a trip to the vet. She still feels guilty.
